Frances Haugen has been in news all over the world since her revelations about Facebook.
This courageous woman has disclosed tens of thousands of Facebook’s internal documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission and The Wall Street Journal in May, 2021.
She is 37 years old data scientist with Harvard Master’s Degree in Business was born in America in the year 1983. Before joining Facebook, she has also worked for some world-famous companies like Google & Pinterest.
In the interview Frances Haugen mentioned that she never wanted to be a whistleblower but lives were in danger. She also tells how spending time with her mother who is a priest motivated her to speak out.
It is indeed surprising to hear from her about the things happening at Facebook which is known as one of the most popular social media giants. It is sad to hear how this company has over and again chosen to optimize its own interests of making more money.
When she left her job with Facebook in May this year, Frances Haugen took thousands of internal documents with her which have generated a turbulence of allegations against this media giant. It sadly also includes the allegation that this social media giant knows that its products were damaging to the mental health of teenagers.
Frances Haugen has testified before the Parliament of the UK last month and also before European Parliament this month. During her testimony she has advocated for government regulation of Facebook and for this social media giant to make changes.
As for the future Frances Haugen wants to start a non-profit organization which supports social media reforms.
